Here at last is a new thing I've just finished recording; a departure (in more ways than one) for me, from the song format, (GASP!) it is a spoken word piece with an attempted generic moody/pastoral/filmic/French instrumental backing followed by a couple of 3 chord verses about the pleasure of going (back) to London.
I threw in a few 1sts, including a totally overdriven electric lead guitar (GASP! again) reversed electric guitar and not least, the arrangement of the first two thirds of the piece purely through editing.

English Bond

Yellow stock in English bond
London brick, of which I'm fond
Timeless lines of terraces
Sooty stains in recesses
Careless lives in present tense
History can't take offence
Pigeons wheel in distant sky
Home again, not safe or dry

Coming back from being me
Seeing you will set me free
Kiss your mouth and drink your tea
Ask you how your day has been
I am held in English bond
Welcoming of which I'm fond
Pigeons wheel in distant sky
Home again not safe or dry
